Random Music Meme

Gacked from tinyjo. The first 11 tunes that come up when I leave my iPod on random. Yes, mine goes up to 11:

Trouble - Jason Downes (feat. Milk D)
The Gloaming (Softly Open Our Mouths in the Cold.) - Radiohead
White Man's Throat - Apollo 440
4th Of July - Soundgarden
Railroad Blues - Beastie Boys
The Things That I Used To Do - G Love & Special Sauce
Beercan - Beck
Radio - Psychid
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want (Live) - Muse
Van Halen vs. Cypress Hill - tedshred
Mr. Slater's Parrot - The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band

I thought I'd have to cheat on this to make me look cooler, but actually it comes out pretty representative, I think.

iPod = good.

Makes me want to get my old MP3 player working again...
But Rio is crap, v. crap. I should write it off, though it was a fairly high price buy. argh.

Soundgarden...mmm...Soundgarden, I miss their heavy metal harmonies.

Re: Makes me want to get my new MP3 player working right now
Yes indeed. Still one of my favourite bands. Have you heard any Audioslave? Chris Cornell fronting some members of Rage Against The Machine. Sounds pretty much like you'd expect. Good stuff.

I've seen part of one music-vid of theirs ... seemed pretty good. Chris Cornell has shed his long hair though. :-)

Did you know that when the battery dies on an iPod, it is impossible to replace without paying as much as a brand new machine would cost anyway?

That's terrible!
My own old MP3 runs off of normal AA batteries, which I made sure were NiMH, so I could recharge them with my small photovoltaic panel.

Excellent solution: up until a plastic bit broke on my PV panel, reducing its efficiency; and when for some damn reason I was unable to synch my player anymore...

I had heard this, but mine was a Christmas present. I must check the warranty... To be honest, I probably wouldn't have chosen the Ipod myself but, though I'm not one to be swayed by style over substance (in technology anyway), it does look cool. Like a magazine for a futuristic weapon...

Is that Muse doing a smiths cover? Do they do it well? Doves did a nice version of that, but the version I prefer is the one in the art gallery scene of the film 'ferris bueller's day off' as performed by the Dream Academy, otherwise most famous for 'live in a northern town' (as taken to the top of the charts in the mid-late 90s by dario g). It's beautiful. Don't rate the smiths' version that much, but I don't know it very well.

Interesting that your ipod and mine both chose smiths covers..

Seems to be.

Do they do it well?

It sounds pretty much like you'd imagine. My problem is that I'm not a great Smiths fan either, nor in fact much of a Muse fan. They're both the sorts of band that I like, they just don't quite grab me.
The track is a B-side of their cover of Feeling Good, though, which I do love.

Interesting that your ipod and mine both chose smiths covers...

I assume this is all a part of a semi-ironic reappraisal of the 90s. Or something.

dosent it cost like £100 for a new battery to be fitted? They sounds really great otherwise.
