I've lived with Cassidy the cat for many years now. Being of a creative, ludic - perhaps I might flatter myself by going so far to suggest 'poetic' - bent, I have, in this time, deployed a number of metaphors and similes in an attempt to encompass her undeniable charms. tinyjo, who successfully manages the unlikely feat of championing both accuracy and kindness, often has cause to remonstrate with my fanciful descriptions on one or the other of these grounds. This post, then, is intended to serve me as a reminder of those descriptions that tinyjo has found wanting, along with her corrections:

Cassidy is not...She is, in fact...
The size of a Shetland ponyLittle at heart
GrumpySensitive
UrsineStately
A cold-hearted serial killer of rodentsA brave protector of our household from evil shrews
A busby with a faceA beautiful pussycat angel made of purrs

Hopefully this will clear up a few of the misconceptions under which I have been labouring, thus contributing towards future household harmony.

I dunno about your misconceptions, but you just taught me what a "busby" is.

Except I unhelpfully chose to link to the thing that I meant when I said 'busby' (which is apparently in fact a bearskin) rather than the actual busby.

This illustrates the perils of learning anything from links to Wikipedia in someone's LiveJournal...

Aha! Thank you kindly for the illustration. I totally see the resemblance to the beautiful angel made of purrs.

Cassidy is MY name!

You're just lucky that I don't believe in hurting cats.

Cassidy is MY name!

I know. In fact, when we were naming her I could only think of two Cassidys: you, and the Irish vampire from Preacher. Those seemed like good precedents.

You're just lucky that I don't believe in hurting cats.

I should hope not, too! If it's any consolation, she doesn't pay much attention to it (nor the other names that I call her, which, as the above suggests, is probably just as well).

That is a good consolation.

Because everybody knows: When a Cassidy learns of another Cassidy within his/her/its proximity, it only knows how to kill.

Except for kittens (sea kittens included).

Shetland ponies are little.

How big a cat-flap?

I think they stop calling them 'cat-flaps' before they reach 7 hands in height.

You mistake a Bearskin for a Busby. Totally different headgear.

Indeed I do (or did, anyway). I was very disappointed when I realised my mistake while writing this post. In the end I chose to illustrate what I meant rather than what I actually said (and confessed as much in the link's title text).

Though I actually think a busby is not a bad size comparison
...for a cat generally. Perhaps a smallish cat, I'll grant.

What's wrong with being a busby/bearskin with a face anyway? Cosy!

I fail to see what was wrong with your description.

Perhaps you lack tinyjo's commitment to kindness and/or accuracy... :)
