Comics

I am an inveterate hoarder, so part of the point of this NaBloPoMo exercise is to force me to trawl through my archive of 'things I might blog about one day' and actually do something with them (and then move them to my 'things I have blogged about' archive. How I wish I was joking...) While so doing, I found this IM conversation I had with tinyjo literally years ago:

OxfordSlacker says:
ping
TinyJo says:
pong
OxfordSlacker says:
D&D for Absolute Idiots:
http://www.gamespy.com/articles/633/633817p1.html
TinyJo says:
I like the flow chart :)
OxfordSlacker says:
Indeed.
OxfordSlacker says:
And, as he claims, it's basically all you need to know.
TinyJo says:
Yup
OxfordSlacker says:
Anyway, that's all.
TinyJo says:
I see :)
OxfordSlacker says:
I should find some way of sharing these links I like with a wider audience...
OxfordSlacker says:
Maybe so that anyone who wanted could see the sort of things I liked.
TinyJo says:
If only there was somewhere on the internet you could post them with comments
OxfordSlacker says:
And they could do the same for me.
OxfordSlacker says:
I like this idea.
TinyJo says:
Sounds good
OxfordSlacker says:
BACK OFF, I'M PATENTING IT!
TinyJo says:
OK then :)
TinyJo says:
I'm happy to be a lowly peon working on implementation
OxfordSlacker says:
I'll call it...
OxfordSlacker says:
HereAreSomeThingsThatILikeAndPerhapsSomeCommentsAsToWhyPleaseShareYourOpinions.com
OxfordSlacker says:
I hope that URL hasn't already been taken.
TinyJo says:
I was just wondering that
TinyJo says:
It seems so obvious
OxfordSlacker says:
Well, see you later. I'm off to start a NEW CRAZE!!!!
TinyJo says:
Have fun :)
OxfordSlacker says:
Love you.
TinyJo says:
Me too
TinyJo says:
Love you, I mean
TinyJo says:
<3
OxfordSlacker says:
Before you learn to love yourself, you can never love anybody else.
TinyJo says:
And on that pearl of wisdom...
OxfordSlacker says:
I admit, it's not original.
TinyJo says:
Well, I can reassure you that I'm doing fine on both counts
OxfordSlacker says:
I'm quoting one of the great philosophers of our times.
TinyJo says:
dinosaur?
OxfordSlacker says:
Not far off. Madonna.
TinyJo says:
Ah, of course

Sadly I never did take my plan any further, or I would be an internet millionaire paying someone else to write this post while me and tinyjo shared a jacuzzi with Charlie's Angels. However, it occurs to me that I could adapt this blog to serve a similar purpose to the one suggested above. So with no further ado, and in no particular order:

Five webcomics that you really should like

Caution: any one of these could have you diving into the archives and not resurfacing until your computer's switched off because you've been fired

Kate Beaton
Kate draws history. Also, fat ponies and conversations with her younger self.
On LJ: beatonna
What's so good about it: The dialogue and the expressions. Also: it's educational!
Look:

Nedroid
Nedroid draws the adventures of Reginald (a bird) and Bearato (a potato-shaped bear. Or possibly a bear/potato hybrid). Also, robots and dinosaurs. Sometimes together!
On LJ: nedroidcomics
What's so good about it: The dialogue and the expressions. Also: occasional beautifully colourful drawings of melancholy robots.
Look:

Hey, Pais
Paisley is cat who draws a journal comic.
On LJ: heypais
What's so good about it: It's a comic drawn by a cat! You can tell because it's cute, funny, and utterly narcissistic.
Look:

Jeremy Dennis
Jeremy writes a weekly strip about her life, sometimes in gritty black and white, sometimes in gorgeous colour, sometimes about work, sometimes about dreams, often with birds in.
On LJ: jrd_tws_rss
What's so good about it: It's stylistically diverse, but always gorgeously evocative.
Look:

Wonderella
Wonderella's a superheroine who regularly saves the world, occasionally deliberately.
On LJ: wonderella_rss
What's so good about it: Wonderella's sarcastic, callous, arrogant and lazy, and let's face it: so would you be if you had super-powers.
Look:

So, there are some things that I like and perhaps some comments as to why. Please share your opinions...

I have added all of the ones I didn't already know about. And I think all the other webcomics I regularly monitor - xkcd, dinosaur, wondermark etc - came from or via you too. So thanks!
